Apologies for not getting this recap up earlier -- this week has been a doozy. Anyway, this will be a short one because the Bureau Valley one will be more in-depth.

GIRLS

The ladies won the meet over Yorkville, Sandwich, and Plano while the boys lost to Yorkville and Sandwich but beat Plano and Somonauk. This was the third time in three meets that Plano's course has been redesigned, so while at least the course is similar, it's still tough to compare times year-over-year. Hopefully, this is the last course redesign and we will be able to return in October for the Ross Greiter Invitational and run the same course.

For the ladies, Halle Nash was once again our leader, finishing 2nd overall in 20:53, followed by Lisa Niemiec in 4th in 22:01, Peyton in 7th in 22:43, Brittany 9th in 23:19, Hannah in 12th in 23:53, Lily in 14th in 24:02, Frankie in 16th in 24:48, Ashley in 20th in 25:43, and Katie in 29th in 31:08.

The ladies scored 2-4-7-9-12-(14)-(16) for 34 points and to claim the win over Sandwich (48), Yorkville (53), and Plano (95). The three wins on Tuesday moves the ladies' record on the season to 5-1 in dual meets.

A side note on the Yorkville girls: They are the four-time defending Class 2A state champions, and they did not bring their varsity team to this meet. Their varsity girls won the Class 3A Peoria FTTF Invitational on Saturday. They will soon be ranked as one of the top teams in the nation.

BOYS

On Tuesday, while the boys team finished third in the standings, they also claimed their first two victories of the season.

Jasper Requiron was our top finisher, covering Plano's course in 17:47 to claim another second place finish for Westmont. Paul Gordon was 7th in 18:18, Sam Asa 17th in 19:43, while Tom Dea (24th, 21:12), Ryan Pleva (25th, 21:20), and Jake Dooley (26th, 21:41) came in back-to-back-to-back. Just five seconds back of Jake, Connor Alessi finished in 21:46 for 29th. Jacob Nader finished 32nd in 22:36, followed by Brandon in 23:02 for 34th and Ben Padgitt finished in 39th in 25:12.

The boys ended up scoring 2-7-15-21-22-(23)-(25) for 67 points to finish third out of five teams. The boys lost to Yorkville (28) and last year's Conference runner-up Sandwich (55), but beat Plano (108) and Somonauk (111). The boys' record on the season moves to 2-5.

(Sunday, 6:20 pm) ....Coach Dunne needs to take Zoey for a walk. I'll be back soon to finish this up and get the Bureau Valley recap up.
